Airsoft guns: illegal? (January 31st, 2012) A resident asked that we caution parents about their children and the use of airsoft guns in the neighborhood (in all areas of LCR, including the creek, ponds, playgrounds, etc.). While the guns that shoot rubber/plastic BBs can be fun or some, they are not appreciated by others, and can be dangerous if used around anyone without the proper eye protection and such. Many of the guns look fairly realistic and can really get kids in trouble and/or hurt. More importantly, our Crime Watch Captain (Dean Hansen) said that anything that fires a projectile is illegal in the City of Allen (per the Allen Police). So, it's best to make sure your kids keep their use of airsoft guns on your own property, to lessen the chances of someone who is not playing getting caught in the cross-fire, someone mistaking the guns for the real thing, and/or someone calling the police on them.
Time to take down holiday lights and decorations (January 31st, 2012) A resident recently asked what date holiday lights and decorations had to be removed by. The HOA rules state that you may decorate six weeks before a holiday, and decorations must be removed within 30 days afterwords. So, it's now past time to have the holiday season lights and decor removed/packed up.
Quarterly Board Meeting (updated Jan. 15th, 2012) The next monthly board meeting is scheduled for Sunday, February 19, at 4pm at the Keller Williams Office at 1002 Raintree Cir. in Allen. This is not the big, annual HOA meeting where residents vote and attendance is critical... just a board meeting that is open to residents to attend/listen-in if they wish to.
Holiday Lights/Decor Contest (updated Dec. 30th, 2011) I hope the holidays have been fun and gratifying for everyone. Our neighborhood has some fabulous light displays and the judging wasn't easy. It took a bit of driving around, and around, but I think we finally have our winners! -First place goes to 1520 Cliff Creek for their entertaining display of lights and music. The kids and adults got a kick out of the little snowmen! -Second place isn't far from there, 1530 Cliff Creek with their beautifully lit trees. -Finally, third place goes to 1531 Winding Trail, a wonderful setting with tranquil ponds and polar bears and deer mingling under the trees. Thank you to all who sent in their votes and thank you to all who lit up our holiday with their display of lights. May our neighbors in Lost Creek Ranch have a safe and Happy New Year! Alison McCullough --- Thanks to Alison for volunteering to help make the season in LCR bright!!! The winners will be mailed Lowe's gift cards to say thanks for their LCR beautification efforts. Thanks to all who decorated for the holidays! ---

(FYI only, please double-check all info. at the city website below)From the City of Allen: STAGE 3 of the Drought Contingency and Emergency Water Response has been implemented! Ordinance No. 2760-8-08. At Stage 3, customers may use sprinklers or irrigation systems twice monthly for yard watering (November 1-March 31). Customers must use both the Stage 3 Outdoor Watering Schedule Map and the Stage 3 Watering Date Table to identify the two specific days per month that this watering is permitted. Stage 3 is being implemented due to a critically short water supply and therefore enforcement of restrictions will be significantly increased to include 24/7 patrolling. No warnings will be issued and citations are punishable by significant fines (up to $2,000) for each violation. Some of the items included in Stage 3 of the Plan are as follows: - All other restrictions apply from the Water Conservation Plan, and Stages 1 & 2 of the Plan. - Limit landscape watering with sprinklers or irrigation systems between November 1 and March 31 to once every two weeks. Exception: Foundations, shrubs, and trees may be watered up to two hours any day by hand-held hose, a soaker hose, or a dedicated zone using drip irrigation systems. - Prohibit the operation of spray ground recreation water parks that do not treat and recirculate water. - Prohibit hydroseeding, hydromulching, and sprigging of any grass species. Prohibit planting/watering of any cool season grass species (such as ryegrass). - Existing swimming pools may not be drained and refilled (except to replace normal water loss). Permits to construct new pools may continue to be issued and the pools may be constructed and filled with water. - Initiate mandatory water use restrictions as follows: * Prohibit hosing of paved areas, buildings, or windows. (Pressure washing of impervious surfaces is allowed.) * Prohibit operation of all ornamental fountains or other amenity impoundments that use treated water. * Prohibit washing or rinsing of vehicles by hose unless using a shut-off nozzle. * Prohibit using water in such a manner as to allow runoff or other waste. This is NOT a complete listing of restrictions for Stage 3. The entire plan and list can be found on the City website: http://www.cityofallen.org/departments/community_svcs/water_conservation/ For more information visit www.cityofallen.org or call 214-509-3111.
Need help? Wanna help? Lost Creek Ranch - Help Your Neighbor (Ongoing)Lost Creek Ranch resident Chris Taylor came up with a great idea at our 2010 HOA meeting. He asked if we could create a way for LCR residents, who wanted to help/volunteer in the community, to be connected to LCR residents who were suffering a hardship and in need of assistance. He even offered to help organize the program and now heads the committee!
How does it work? Let's say there are some residents who want to volunteer on a hyper-local level (i.e. in their own neighborhood) and/or get their kids involved in volunteering... and there is a resident who is battling cancer (she needs temporary assistance getting groceries from the store) and another who is recovering from surgery (he needs help with his lawn for the next few weeks). The goal of the program would be to identify and match these people in need with the volunteers who can help. Since it's dependent on volunteers, we can't promise anything except to try and match those with hardships to those willing to help. Hopefully we continue to have enough volunteers to help any LCR resident who is truly in need. Please note that "I work a lot" or "I have kids" are not in themselves severe hardships/reasons to request assistance (though, when combined with more severe circumstances, they could be). Also, many of our community volunteers have full-time jobs and/or kids, so these are also not reasons why you cannot help. Some resident needs will be more time and/or labor intensive, while others may only require a few extra minutes of your time and/or little extra effort. So, if you have a desire to help or a need for assistance...
- Please click here to volunteer for the Help Your Neighbor committee. Be sure to include your contact information, your availability, and any special skills that you think might be useful (i.e. "I can fix plumbing") if you would like to help. Don't worry if you don't have any "special skills", those are just a bonus. We're mainly looking for people that are simply willing to help.
- Or, click here to request assistance from the Help Your Neighbor committee. Please include your contact information, a description of the help you need, and a little about your hardship that can be shared with volunteers.
- A link has also been posted to this information/program in the menu above under "Your Community" (visible only if you're logged in).

To do so, go to CMA Management's website at http://www.cmamanagement.com/. If you don't already have a login, you can set one up by selecting "Need to Register?" in the upper right corner of the page. Once logged in, roll over the "Customer Service" tab and click "ACC Requests". There you can see all the requests you have pending or previously submitted as well as submit a new request. To submit, click the "New ACC Request" tab. Fill out the online application and attach necessary files, pictures/drawings, and plot survey. Once done, click "Submit ACC Request". If you have trouble, contact CMA at 972-943-2882 and ask for the Lost Creek Ranch community manager. NOTE: Check the Lost Creek Ranch HOA website at http://www.lostcreekranchhoa.com/ for current ACA Guidelines; this will help you determine what supporting documents you need to submit. Log in and look under "Resource Center" then see the "Governing Documents" (ACA guidelines start on page 86). Submitting your application and supporting documentation electronically will not only provide a faster response time for you, but will help control administrative costs since our management company will not have to scan the information to store it digitally. So sign up, sign in, and submit those Modification Applications online! It's convenient for you, the management company, and the ACA Committee! Thank you, ACA Committee Members
